Here are some important notes for the upcoming tryouts:
 
Soccer tryouts begin Monday, November 4th at 4:00 pm.
 
Tryout Dates: November 4th - November 8th - JV & Freshman teams will also have extended tryouts through the following week
 
Locations/Times for Tryout Dates:
Monday, November 4: Grass area near the Outdoor Basketball Courts - 4:00-6:00 pm
 
Tuesday, November 5: Grass area near the Outdoor Basketball Courts - 4:00-6:00 pm
 
Wednesday, November 6: Bradley Field Turf - 3:00-4:30 pm
 
Thursday, November 7: Frosh/JV -  Grass area near the Outdoor Basketball Courts - 4:00-6:00 pm. Varsity -No Practice
 
Friday November 8: Grass Area near the Outdoor Basketball Courts - 4:00-6:00 pm
 
What to bring: Soccer cleats, shin guards, gear to train in and running shoes
 
Requirements to tryout: MUST BE CLEARED AND REGISTERED ON SPORTSNET
(Boys can check with office to make sure they are cleared and registered)
 
If playing a Fall Sport: You need to communicate to the Coaching staff your availability to tryout.

My name is Johan Lyssand. I’m born & raised in Redwood City, graduating from Woodside High School in 1993, where I played soccer and football. I continued on playing Football at California State University Fresno, where I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.  This will be my second stint at Woodside, previously coaching the Woodside Boys Varsity Soccer team from 2002-2005. Currently, I coach at JASA Redwood City. Looking forward to returning to Woodside and building off what my predecessors have established here.

Jorge Moreno (Boys JV Soccer Head Coach)

Jorge has been coaching since 2001. He has been a coach for AYSO, the Sheriff Activities League, four years as a Juventus coach and also the Madera Roja Club team in Redwood City for U9 boys. This is his 2nd year coaching at WHS as the JV soccer coach. Jorge grew up playing street soccer and played a bit of Club Soccer in his youth. Jorge graduated from Sequoia High School, and took courses at Canada College in Computer Science, before becoming a trades men and union member working in construction. Coaching is his passion (he did it for 14 years for free!) and if he could change just one life for the better, through accomplishing goals set in sports, he says it is all worth it, “it takes only one person to make the world a better place.” Outside of coaching he has been a volunteer school district mentor for middle school students for 4 years in San Jose for a program started by then San Jose Mayor Gonzalez.
